The Zebra Collection is named for its use of Zebra clay: a reclaimed mixture of several different clay bodies, left unwedged to preserve its unique marbled look. The Zebra clay is then marbled with a white stoneware to effectuate a striped zebra-like pattern.
Left unglazed on the exterior and glazed with Rust on the interior. The exterior has been sanded at every stage up to 400 grit, producing a very soft feel to the hand.

Each individual piece was thrown on the pottery wheel in small-batch production. Castoe Pots strives to throw each piece as identical as possible, but the nature of handmade pottery ensures slight variations in size, thickness of the rim, and glaze lightness or darkness.
